We're well into December, and into the final few weeks of the year. Let's take a look at what Stan has on offer for us right now, as we look at the past week of additions on the streaming platform. As usual, if you want a complete preview of everything that's coming in December, head here to our Stan December preview.

Television:

In TV, there's a new comedy series from starring the comedy genius of Tracy Morgan ('30 Rock'), and created by another genius Jordan Peele, the man behind the hit film 'Get Out', The Last O.G.. Morgan stars as an ex-con released after a 15-year stint, surprised at how the world has changed.

There is also a new season of the hilarious comedy series Broad City, and you can follow the continuing adventures of Ilana and Abbi in the complete season 4.

And in case you need a reminder that the holidays are upon us soon, there's also the holiday spectacular, or rather 'Holi-slay Spectacular' for RuPaul's Drag Race.

Movies, Documentaries:

There are some really great movie picks this week, and as always, I like to start with the really new, not necessarily the really best. The 2018 remake of the original 1974 film arrives in the form of Bruce Willis and Vincent D'Onofrio's Death Wish. It's no surprise that this remake isn't as good as the original Charles Bronson film, but if you want something new to chew on that you most likely haven't bothered to go the cinemas for, then Death Wish 2018 is a good choice.

I normally don't highlight bad movies here, but Max 2: White House Hero seems to be one of those sequels that take everything good about the original and throws it in the trash. This is how you get a grounded story like a dog and its owners working through the traumas of war, the first film, to a film about the same dog that now somehow works at the White House because the previous secret service dog is on maternity leave. It's almost comical.

With some bad to average movies out of the way, we can now focus on the great movies in this week's line-up.

Just when you think good Rocky movies have come and gone, in comes another one. While not strictly a Rocky movie, this in-universe spin-off does deliver the goods Creed and stars Michael B. Jordan, who you may not recognize as walking tragedy that was Wallace from The Wire.

Then there's The Edge of Seventeen, an affectionate, funny coming of age drama starring the immensely talented Hailee Steinfeld.

And this is how you do a remake/reboot. Both 21 Jump Street and 22 Jump Street are funny because they don't really take themselves that seriously, and at the same time, are serious about respecting their source material and not just plop out a boring rehash just for the sake of it. If anything, it's almost nothing like the original TV series starring a very young Johnny Depp, but at the same time, these films work in their own right as original stories.

World movie fans should check out Finland's The Other Side Of Hope and Italy's Perfect Strangers.
