It's the end of a month, the beginning of a new one and the start of the school holidays. So while Stan already has plenty of reasons to add new content, they've gone and made my job that much harder (and made your subscription that much more value) by adding in a ton a new content that wasn't previously announced (don't believe me? Just check out the huge list of new movies towards the end of this article).
You've seen the ads probably, but there's something weirdly ironic about an Aussie playing an (infamous?) American who worked at a network owned by an Australian who is now an American (played by a Brit in this series). Confused? You won't be after you watch Russel Crowe as Roger Ailes in The Loudest Voice, all about the founder of Fox News and all that fair and balanced news reporting, no doubt. New episodes coming every week.
There's also new British sci-fi series The Rook, an edgy thriller that involves a massive worldwide conspiracy (what, another one?).
If you're looking for something trashy, then Ex On The Beach USA might be just for you. 10 Reality and social media "celebs" are sent to a sexy getaway (can we keep them there, like, forever?), just in time for their exes (that's ex-boyfriends and girlfriends, not executable files) to show up. Chaos and hilarity ensue.
There's also a new season (6) of Catfish: The TV Show.
Thanks to the start of a new output deal (or two), a huge number of movies, many of them really top-tier, have just landed on Stan.
Ready Player One is Steven Spielberg's love story to '80s pop culture mixed with a healthy dose of social commentary and the gaming culture. In other words, it's a fantastic adventure full of memorable moments.
In Sicario: Day of the Soldado, the War on Drugs takes a surprising turn in this exciting thriller sequel to the original Emily Blunt led vehicle.
Then there's Ocean's 8, the spin-off from the remake goes all female and it's a fun ride from beginning to surprising end.
There's also the mystery thriller A Simple Favour, and the funny The Spy Who Dumped Me.
And that's just the newer titles. There are also some older hits that are definitely worth a spot on your watch list.
These include Oscar winners The Artist, The Intouchables (2011); Michael B. Jordan before 'Creed' and 'Black Panther', but after his unforgettable run on 'The Wire', in the based on a true story Fruitvale Station;
stylish crime drama in The Place Beyond the Pines; sports and true crime mix in Foxcatcher; and Lovelace, where you'll learn where the phrase that's used in politics and in porn actually comes from (you know the one).
For the kiddos, there are lots of new cartoons, kids movies and Nickelodeon series to keep them entertained for the school holidays, along with the classic movies The NeverEnding Story and Elf.
