A slightly quieter week in terms of TV made up for some interesting movie additions. Let's have a look, then.
Season 2 of New Amsterdam has arrived and if you've not been following the show on Channel 9, then now, with 2 full seasons on Stan, is a good time to maybe give the show a try.
The 2012 remake of Red Dawn falls firmly into the category "why bother", as the original 1984 was a war/fantasy classic, and nothing much has been added with this new version. The original baddies in this new movie were going to be the Chinese, which makes sense considering the USSR no longer exists, but was changed in post-production to the North Koreans, which makes no sense at all. Well, less sense than either the Russians or Chinese invading America without there being some kind of nuclear exchange, anyway.
The war classic Apocalypse Now is now on Stan - this is the theatrical version, not the longer Redux version though.
If geopolitical or war fantasy is less your thing and you need something a bit more local, like maybe a local radio station, then Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa is a blast. It might be good to watch a bit of other Alan Partridge shows, but his most recent effort, This Time with Alan Partridge, would be good too as it's fairly standalone.
The documentary The Biggest Little Farm has received some good reviews for its sentimentality and charm, which is apparently also its biggest flaw. Have a look and decide for yourself.
And finally for the kids, especially in Victoria where they are driving parents mad not being able to go to school, how about a little bit of Stan babysitting with Kung Fu Panda 3 and the new animated series Madagascar: A Little Wild.
