Some great classic movies have just joined Stan this week, even though it was a relatively quiet week in terms of new TV stuff. So let's have a look then.
Other than the continuing series, the only piece of content is the first (and only) season of the short-lived series Valor. The series about an elite unit of U.S. Army helicopter pilots sent on a dangerous mission to Somalia wasn't a hit with audiences, but you can judge for yourself whether the cancellation was warranted.
We have yet another week with a treasure trove of movie additions. Nothing that sticks out as being particularly new, but lots of classics and cult favourites that will definitely be worth your time. Regardless of what you think of director Roman Polanski, his 2002 masterpiece The Pianist is one of the best movies about the holocaust, which is no mean feat given the number of good quality movies in this sub-genre.
Clint Eastwood eerily predicted his future self in Gran Torino, a movie about an old angry white guy who learns that building bridges is more rewarding than building walls.
The next three movies have been my favourites in late-night "movie-on-TV" watching for some time now. If you've watched Nell before, you'd know what "Chicka, chicka, chickabee" means. If not, then what are you waiting for?
Universal Soldier spawned a million sequels, but while the movie is not a great one by today's standards, but it doesn't mean it wasn't entertaining. Cliffhanger, by all accounts, is a better movie though and well worth watching even after all these years.
And finally, a bunch of Hitchcock classics have just been added to Stan, including Psycho, The Birds, and Rear Window - some truly iconic filmmaking on display in these movies.
